Microsoft: iTunes App For Windows 8 Probably Isn't Happening
While iTunes can still be used in "desktop" mode on Windows 8, Microsoft would really like Apple to come out with an official iTunes app for Windows 8. In an interview with CNN Money, Tami Reller, CFO of Microsoft's Windows division, said that Microsoft has been trying to convince Apple to build an iTunes Windows 8 app, but it doesn't look like it'll happen "any time soon." "You shouldn't expect an iTunes app on Windows 8 any time soon," Reller explained. "iTunes is in high demand. The welcome mat ... more

Chrome App Launcher To Accompany Future Releases Of Chrome Browser
Future releases of Google's Chrome Browser will bundle its Chrome OS app launcher along with it for Windows, OS X and Linux. The app launcher lets you run Chrome apps without launching the browser itself, allowing the apps to work offline and have access to a wider range of APIs than normal web apps. Think of the Chrome app launcher as a home for all your apps, which makes them easier to open outside the browser. The app launcher is a similar experience to the Chromebook, but for other platforms. <a ... more

The data discovered by CIRP found that the average monthly carrier bill of the typical iPhone user is the highest in the smartphone market and iPhone owners spend more on wireless fees than owners of any other handset, including Android, Blackberry or Windows Phone. You Probably Shouldn't Trust The Salesperson Down At The AT&T Store

AT&T has begun telling its retail staff that they need to start recommending Android and Windows phones to people over the iPhone. Gates urged Apple to make the Macintosh OS a standard
It seems that in 1985, a young Bill Gates encouraged then-CEO of Apple John Sculley and Jean Louis Gassée of the Macintosh team to open up the Mac OS as a standard. Microsoft was on the verge of releasing Windows 1.0 as a software bundle, and Gates felt his expertise of having worked closely with computer hardware manufacturers would be wisdom for Apple. In the memo, archived by Letters of Note, Gates outlines his suggestions.
"Apple should license the Macintosh technology to US and European companies in a ... more

Intel is hoping 2012 is the year of Thunderbolt
Go, greased lightning! Reports are coming in that April of 2012 will be Intel's initial big push for industry-wide adoption of their best-in-class data transfer interface called Thunderbolt. As of now, the only computer manufacturer to use Thunderbolt across their machines is Apple. Because it isn't widely adopted, selection of Thunderbolt devices is limited, and that's a little bit scary. Apple is not new to the realm of early adoption of interfaces. They jumped fairly quickly on USB and Firewire, and that had mixed results. USB took off like ... more
