With the Facebook event just around the corner, people have been speculating about what "big ideas" the company is planning to announce. Marissa Mayer, the CEO of Yahoo, just made Flickr free for three months. Normally a paid subscription is available for $25 a year, but the photo-sharing site is now making its unlimited Pro service free for a limited time. People who already subscribed get an extra three months for free. Users will be able to view all of their photo library instead of just the last 200 images, upload unlimited photos, download originally-uploaded high-resolution photos, and upload and play unlimited HD videos with the service. Instagram has just released an updated version of its privacy policy. Long story short, the company is setting themselves up to begin sharing user data with Facebook. Carolyn Everson, Facebook's VP of global marketing solutions, has just confirmed that Instagram will be "monetized" in the near future. Everson said this in an interview with BusinessInsider during the Ignition 2012 conference. Just a day after Twitter added filters to its iOS and Android applications, Flickr has announced that it's bringing filters and a new user interface to its mobile apps. This update has been a long time coming as Flickr's iPhone app hasn't received an update since December of 2011. Instagram has just been updated to version 3.2.0, and the new update brings a ton of new features and fixes as well as a new filter. Over ten million photos were uploaded to Instagram during American Thanksgiving. Instagram was reportedly seeing roughly 200 uploads per second during the holiday between peak hours of 10am and 6pm EST. The folks at Instagram have labeled this as its most successful day of all time.
