Show Folder Sizes In Finder Once And For All
If there's one thing that leaves me scratching my head with OS X's Finder, it's the lack of a display for the size of folders and subsequent files within them. It drives me crazy. Yesterday, on LifeHacker, there was a snazzy little tip that turns on the size readings and I thought I'd pass it along. Open a Finder window Switch to List View Click on the Gear icon Click on Show View Options in the menu Check the box titled, 'Calculate All Sizes' Why this isn't on by default absolutely boggles the mind.

How To Add Blank Spaces To Your Home Screen Without Jailbreaking
If you're looking to add blank spaces to your iOS home screen, instead of having all the applications line up one after another, a newly found bug in iOS has made it possible. Put your apps in this order in the bottom row of an iOS page: App, Group with two apps in it, app, app. Move an app out of the folder, and onto the last app in the row to create a new folder. While maintaining your touch on the screen, drag the application back to its original position. Go back to ... more

Tip: Improve Siri Voice Dialing With Phonetic Names
Siri quickly went from Johnny 5 to Marvin the Paranoid Android for most iPhone users, as the launch was plagued with network and service outages. Once everyone went through all the easter eggs, there were a lot of questions as to how to integrate Siri into everyday use patterns. One of the more overlooked features for Siri is the ability to work nearly hands free for dialing and texting, a useful feature if stuck in traffic. Siri still can be easily tripped up by nonstandard phonetics, such as when your cousin ... more

Is Google Now Killing Your Battery Life? Here's How To Fix It
After Google Now was released to iOS users earlier this week, some have reported seeing their iOS device's battery-life diminish. After a bit of research, the cause of this battery drain is said to be the Location Reporting function that is built into the Google Now application. Though this feature is automatically enabled when installed, it's very easy to disable via the Settings screen. To disable Location Reporting, launch the Google Search app and tap on the settings button that is located towards the top of the screen. Now, look ... more

Turn That Dusty Wii Fit Board Into A Smart Weight Scale For Status Board
I've been meaning to throw my Wii Fit board in the garbage or donate it to my nephews for a while now. Turns out, there may be an actual use for it that I didn't realize. Matt Brian, over at the Verge, just posted about an application for Android that connects to your Wii Fit board and turns it into a scale. That was all the incentive I needed to figure out how to do it with OS X. Turns out there's a project that does just ... more

It's not the first time I've gone looking, and it's certainly not going to be the last time I look up exactly what the difference is between LED, LCD, Plasma, and OLED TVs. Since I received an email last week asking me the differences, I figured I'd just publish the video here. Leeanne, this one's for you! Most of the information in this video is available online, but at that moment when you're ... more

Here's How To Get The Most Out Of Your iPhone's Camera
The iPhone has both amazing camera hardware and software. However, the only issue with Camera.app is the fact that most of the features remain out of sight due to its minimal user interface. Once these features are uncovered, you can unlock the full potential of your iPhone by activating HDR photos, an alignment grid, exposure auto-focus and auto-exposure lock, panoramic photos and even remote shutter. HDR (High dynamic range) HDR (high dynamic range) is a great way to enhance your low-light photos. This is due to the fact that HDR photos ... more

Syncing Safari Tabs Between iOS Devices, Macs
Even though iCloud isn't perfect, it has proven to be extremely useful when syncing content from your Mac to iOS devices. An example of this is Safari bookmark and tab sync via iCloud. Interview With Realmac Software’s Dan Counsell

I’ve had a long relationship with Realmac Software, and their applications. The first time I came across one of their products with Little Snapper, which I’m pretty sure showed up in my email because of a MacHeist bundle I had purchased early on in my Mac life. Since then, I’ve
