Though Apple has not officially been accused of any wrongdoing yet, congressional investigators have found that the company has avoided paying billions in taxes. This has been done through using tax havens and corporate tax loopholes. Investigators even found that Apple has paid less than their public filings would indicate, saving the company billions of dollars every year from 2009 through 2011. Yahoo has pushed major updates to its popular photo sharing service Flickr. These updates include a complete redesign as well as a massive 1TB of storage for free users. In terms of the new design, the photo sharing service has been completely redesigned from the ground up. For instance, the Flickr Photostream will now show off your photos in a seamless layout that allows for endless scrolling through a user's photo collection. I have an Intel Mac Pro (1,1) collecting dust. Right now the thing just servers up some cool things we're working on for Macgasm (more on that at a later date). I've thought about doing a lot of things with the beast, but never once has the idea of turning it into a BBQ grilling machine crossed my mind. When news of Yahoo purchasing Tumblr came out yesterday, a number of Tumblr users expressed their concern for what was going to happen to their favorite blogging service. Yahoo's CEO Marissa Mayer took to announce one thing during a company conference call today that you can expect to see change with Tumblr. More Ads. (Yay!) Samsung announced this morning that it will be hosting a global competition to find developers who will create third-party apps specifically for its Galaxy smartphones. The competition will award 10 winners with a combined $800,000 prize. Many consumers are under the impression that Samsung's apps just aren't as good as Apple's, an issue Samsung is hoping to solve with this competition. Whenever big corporations buy smaller successful companies, many are stricken with fear that this marks the beginning of the end for what they once loved. This is likely why the number of blog posts being imported from Tumblr to Wordpress has risen from 400-600 an hour to a whopping 72,000 ever since Tumblr was purchased by Yahoo. It's frustrating when you're on a pinning frenzy and realize that half the pins you've pinned don't actually contain any useful information, which means that picture of the chocolate cake you found will be stuck on your Pinterest page forever. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Yahoo’s board has approved a $1.1 billion cash deal to buy the blogging site Tumblr, and the company will still be run independently as a business. David Karp, Chief Excutive of the company, founded Tumblr in 2007 while in a bedroom of his mother’s apartment. While Tim Cook had revealed earlier in the year that a "Made In U.S.A" Mac was on its way that would be manufactured in the U.S. rather than overseas, he has now revealed that a number of smaller parts for the Mac will be built within America as well.
