Every year there is excitement about what Apple will announce at their WWDC keynote. Yesterday, the company announced some great new updates to OS X, some Mac hardware, and huge iOS update. As a surprise to no one, Apple finally revealed iOS 7 at today's WWDC conference. With it, comes a number of new changes and improvements, including a dramatic change to the overall aesthetics of iOS. Apple has redesigned all the icons for iOS 7, with some icons like Messages receiving minor changes, to icons like Photos and GameCenter receiving dramatic changes that have completely changed the look of the icon. With iOS 7 comes a brand new Siri. Siri now has a brand new voice, and you even have the option of choosing a male version of Siri. There are high quality voices in French and German as well, and Apple has said that support for even more languages is on the way. Siri is even smarter in iOS 7. She, or he depending which voice you select, can control more devices with different commands, like "Increase brightness," "Play this song," and it can answer a lot more questions thanks to new integration with services like Twitter, Wikipedia and web search ... more -

Apple introduced the much-anticipated iOS 7 today and with it a newly-designed Safari app. Though the app icon itself leaves much to be desired, the new features that it brings are pretty neat. Safari in iOS 7 brings these new features: Full-screen interface Smart search field Favorites New tab view Parental control iCloud Keychain With the new full-screen interface, when you're browsing the web the controls will recede so you can enjoy a more full-screen view of what you're browsing. The gaming arena is certainly evolving, with mobile gaming becoming the way of the future. BlueStacks is addressing this shift with the GamePop console that gives you the best of both worlds. GamePop is a home gaming console built with mobile technologies, and it's about to get a whole lot better. BlueStacks announced today that GamePop will support iPhone and iPad apps when it launches, on top of Android titles. Warner Bros. announced with a teaser trailer that it will be releasing a Man of Steel game for iOS and Android this month. Based off the upcoming comic-book based movie, Man of Steel will be released on June 14. Were you in the market for an iPad 5 case? Probably not, seeing as Apple has yet to even announce the device. However, that hasn't stopped case maker Gumdrop from creating 15,000 cases for the unannounced product, which it thinks will be unveiled at next week's WWDC. Gumdrop has launched three different cases for the iPad 5 today, called the the Drop Tech Series, the Drop Tech Designer Series, and the Bounce Skin, which can each be purchased now on the company's website. Snapchat, the popular picture messaging app, has just been updated to version 5.0, bringing a slew of significant new features. The update, dubbed Banquo, brings new swipe navigation, new option to reply to messages, in-app profiles and more. In general, Snapchat's interface has been tidied up and smoothed out, making it easier to navigate through, especially with the new swipe navigation feature. Gameloft has just released a new teaser trailer for Modern Combat 5, the latest installment of the widely popular first person shooter series. The game will be available for both iOS and Android. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjz614QVyfQ The trailer really doesn't give to much away about what you can expect when it's released, but you can almost certainly count on a lot of shooting. Much digital ink has been spilled, servers burned out discussing what is wrong with iOS. Of course such a discussion ignores the fact that iOS is still the most polished, user-friendly operating system in the mobile space. What makes the natives restless is that a once massive lead has largely evaporated. Whereas before Apple was up by a few touchdowns, now the opposition is down by only a field goal —and driving towards the end zone.
