The first big announcement Apple made in its WWDC press conference was a bit of a surprise. Apple chose to bring out the new company Anki, who revealed its first project, a real world racing game called Anki Drive. Anki Drive looks like a videogame of the future. It's reminiscent of those remote controlled race car games that has cars racing around a track, only this time, the cars are highly intelligent and are on no set track. The gaming arena is certainly evolving, with mobile gaming becoming the way of the future. BlueStacks is addressing this shift with the GamePop console that gives you the best of both worlds. GamePop is a home gaming console built with mobile technologies, and it's about to get a whole lot better. BlueStacks announced today that GamePop will support iPhone and iPad apps when it launches, on top of Android titles. Warner Bros. announced with a teaser trailer that it will be releasing a Man of Steel game for iOS and Android this month. Based off the upcoming comic-book based movie, Man of Steel will be released on June 14. The latest SimCity for Mac was originally slated for release on June 11, but EA recently announced that the release date will be pushed back a few months. EA said the game is "not ready for primetime yet," which is why the game will be delayed until August. "We have made this tough decision because we do not believe it is ready for primetime yet. After speculation about Xbox One's used games market, Microsoft today clarified a number of points about the licensing of games, the privacy of Kinect, and the users' Internet connection in a few different blog posts. One big issue was what you could legitimately do with game discs, including who can play your games or even borrow them. Gameloft has just released a new teaser trailer for Modern Combat 5, the latest installment of the widely popular first person shooter series. While being laid off typically isn't something you'd be happy about, now former OMGPOP employees found a reason to celebrate two days ago, even after losing their jobs. "Most layoffs are sad," stated an anonymous former employee to Business Insider. "You imagine big corporate settings where security is there to lead people out of the office so they don't make a scene. This was the opposite. Music was being played loudly and people were ripping up Zynga hoodies and t-shirts. Anything that was Zynga was completely left there. The sentiment felt positive." Just a few days ago the Wikipad gaming tablet finally received FCC approval, after reportedly being redesigned a number of times since its announcement. Now the Wikipad is officially going on sale on June 11 in the U.S. for $249.99, with a global launch expected for the summer. Just yesterday it was reported that Zynga would be laying off 520 employees, 18% of its staff, in an attempt to cut down on costs. Today the company is flushing OMGPOP down the toilet after purchasing the makers of the wildly successful Draw Something over a year ago for $200 million. The entire OMGPOP team has been fired along with the 520 Zynga employee layoffs reported yesterday. Today, Microsoft and 343 Industries unveiled a game coming to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 -- Halo: Spartan Assault. The game is expected to officially launch this July and could be the first halo application for platforms that run the shared Windows core. Halo: Spartan Assault is a third-person shooter game that will feature familiar characters seen in many of the series' other games.
