If someone with one of these devices inside of them falls asleep with their iPad on their chest, it could potentially turn off their defibrillator, putting them at serious risk. The security software Apple uses to protect its iPhones is good. Perhaps too good. The devices are allegedly so hard to crack that police need to go to Apple themselves to retrieve information from them. Sometimes Apple can put these police on waiting lists that last for over a month until they can finally get the information they want. Read the full story over at CNET.

This USB Cable Works With Lightning, 30-Pin, and Micro USB devices
Posted by on . No responses
I love my gadgets, but carrying around three different cables to charge and sync my Lightning, 30-pin, and Micro USB devices can get annoying. However, the folks at iPhone 5 Mod have recently developed a USB cable that has attachments to work with both Lightning and 30-pin devices as well as standard Micro USB devices. This cable is essentially a standard Micro USB cable with a Micro USB to Lightning adapter and a Micro USB to 30-pin adapter. These adapters are removable but can attach to the side of the cable using a set of nubs. To attach one of the ... more

If you're a frequent traveler, you've probably found yourself in a hotel with free wired Internet access. While this is nice if you have a MacBook Pro sans Retina Display, you're SOL if you have a MacBook Air or a Retina-equipped MacBook Pro. Sure, you could buy a Thunderbolt or USB to Ethernet adapter, but then you're tethered to the wall. However, Kanex aims to fix this issue with the mySpot: a tiny wireless router that reroutes any ethernet connection wirelessly. The mySpot is powered via USB and is ideally paired with an AC USB plug. The mySpot's USB power cable ... more

Repair Just About Anything With Sugru
Posted by on . No responses
The MagSafe adapter is a great laptop charger, but unfortunately the cable can get frayed and damaged over time. While you could purchase a new one when your charger starts to kick the can, that can be expensive and unnecessary when the mechanics inside of the adapter are still functioning perfectly. This got me thinking that there has to be some way to fix the MagSafe adapter by myself. Luckily, there is with Sugru, an innovative new rubber material that molds and hardens to objects yet still remains flexible. Once you purchase a packet of Sugru, you can simply mold the ... more

I don't know about you, but my desk is always filled with cables. Whether it be a MagSafe adapter for my MacBook Pro, a Lightning adapter for my iPhone and iPad, or a 30-pin adapter for my iPod, my desk is cluttered. In an attempt to hide my cable mess, I've tried running cables behind my desk, though I've always found that they either fall behind my monitor or, even worse, tumble to the floor. The folks at Sewell seem to have had the same issue and have created the MOS, or the Magnetic Organization System. This device is essentially a ... more

While the iPad mini is a great multimedia device, I find it to be quite annoying to use unless it's paired with a decent stand. Because of this, I'm always on the lookout for iPad mini cases that feature interesting stand designs. One of these cases is the Incipio LGND case, a case that provides multiple viewing angles and stellar protection. The LGND's stand functionality is quite interesting. It's built-in to the case's front flap and can be folded into positions suitable for typing, movie viewing, and general web browsing. Incipio doesn't list how many positions the cases can be folded ... more
