There’s a nifty new iPhone app that will put classic literature on your phone! Classics is a slick app that gives you a “bookshelf” where 12 novels are stored. The reading functionality is fairly simple and easy and the page turning function is very responsive to the touch screen. The app will remember where you left off in a book, too.

The app is available at the iTunes app store for $3 and works for both iPod Touch and iPhone.

Buyer Beware of MacGuard Malware!

Are you preparing for the end of world?Â Apparently, some Apple users are and they’re buying anti-virus software called MacGuard.Â MacGuard is a clone of a common Windows malware masquerading as virus protection called Winiguard.

Intego, a Mac security software firm, issued a warning to Mac users urging them not to purchase this software.Â The website’s download link appears to be not functioning at this point, but if this product is anything like Winiguard, it will barrage your browser with pop-ups warning you that your computer is at risk.Â It is believed that MacGuard was designed to scam credit cards, asking the user to pay a nominal fee to “clean” their computer then making multiple charges on the card.

Apple Stock Takes a Plunge

It looks as though an unfounded rumor on CNN’s iReport claiming Steve Jobs has had a heart attack sent the Apple stock to 52-week low. The SEC is investigating the source of the rumor. CNN’s iReport is a user driven rumor mill and CNN is not taking any responsibility for the fabricated rumor.

Although this is a rumor, it’s still some pretty scary news. Even the slightest inkling that Jobs’ health is going downhill takes the Apple stock into a nosedive. This is partly because of the uncertainty that is surrounding succession and the ambiguity of Jobs’ present health. All of these factors combine to create a very volatile stock price. Let’s not even mention the economic downturn our country is having at the moment. Investors are looking for a guaranteed profit at this point in the market and it’s frightening to think Apple may not be it.

According to Apple spokesmen, Jobs is healthy as a horse. Obviously, we shouldn’t be worried in the least.
