30 Days Of iOS Tips: Change You Default Alert Sounds And Ringtone

Tired of the same old ringtone? Not a fan of the “ding” sound that plays whenever you receive a text message? iOS provides a one-stop shop for changing alert sounds for built-in apps and features.

Go to the Settings app, then return to the main Settings screen if you aren’t there already. Next, tap Sounds. Here you can change vibrate-on-ring settings, alert and ringer volume, and also specific alert tones. Tap a tone type to change it, and then tap a new alert sound to select that tone.

You can also change whether your phone vibrates for a given alert by tapping Vibration up at the top of the list: You can select a different vibration pattern or even create your own.

If you want to buy more ringtones, tap Store in the upper right corner. You can alternately create your own ringtone in GarageBand.
