Apple Accused Of Being At It Again, Conspiring Once More With Publishers
As you might already know, Apple was recently found guilty in its long standing e-book price fixing trial. While the case is continuing as Apple appeals the decision, the U.S. Department of Justice is accusing Apple of already, yet again, conspiring with book publishers.
This statement from the DOJ comes after several publishers came to Apple’s defense following the court’s recent ruling. The publishers argue that the proposed settlement terms the DOJ has set out for Apple would force them to adjust their own settlement terms, something they’re unwilling to do.
DOJ attorney Lawrence Buterman went as far as to say that Apple and the publishers have gone and “banded together once again.”
Apple meanwhile, trying to prove its innocence, expressed to the court concerns that it has with prior statements made by Amazon and Google, who Apple says have “serious credibility issues.”
Expect to keep hearing about this case for an indefinite period of time.
