Garmin Looking To Bring Heads-Up GPS To Your Car, Smartphone

Garmin is hoping to jump the competition and be the first GPS company to produce a device that turns your windshield into a heads-up display. Using Bluetooth, a smartphone, the Streepilot or Navigon apps, and its new HUD, Garmin can now display all of your direction needs directly on your windshield.

It’s not just directions that the HUD will display either as the “HUD displays turn indicators, distance to the next turn, current speed and speed limit as well as estimated time of arrival.” If that’s not enough, the HUD will also alert you when you’re breaking the speed limit. That’s more than enough to get me to pick one of these up once I figure out just how much the device costs.

Garmin hasn’t posted any information on price or availability just yet. That said, it’s pretty awesome that you can get a HUD in your Cavalier, after market, if you’re in the market for one.
