Google Earth iOS App Update Brings Street View, Improvements
Before the update, you had to switch between Google Earth and Google Maps if you wanted to see a street level view of whatever country or town you’re looking at. Now you can get Street View right in the Google Earth app on your iPhone or iPad.
You can access Street View in the same way you would with Google Maps, with the drag and drop controls. To zoom into the new Street View mode, just grab the little yellow guy from the top right of the screen and drop him anywhere with supported street zones, which are the ones highlighted in blue.
This version of the app also brings improved directions and search. The updated directions let you visualize transit, walk, bike and drive directions in 3D while the updated search results list will let you browse search results quickly and easily.
Google Earth’s update also brings some overall improvements to the app. The user interface has changed, bringing its design more in line with Google’s other apps, and moving away from the four-corner button layout. You’ll find the layer selection menu and search button at the top of the screen and the current location and points of interest slider is at the bottom.
You can download the new and improved Google Earth app for iOS on the App Store now for free.
