Flipboard Update Brings Profile Pages, Friends Category, More

Just last March, Flipboard for iOS received a major update bringing the popular social magazine app to version 2.0. Now, another notable Flipboard update brings a number of new features that makes flipping through your favorite articles even better.

The new update introduces a number of features, including the ability to keep tabs on your readership and curation with the new profile pages. Your profile page highlights how many magazines, articles, and readers the corresponding user has so far.

Flipboard now has even better discovery options, with a new Friends category in the Content Guide that lets you discover magazines by friends quickly and easily.

There’s now even more sharing support within the app. You can select a social network and access options from the improved share menu. Through SMS text messaging, you can share magazines and stories easily with friends and family.

By tapping the item’s share icon, you can save images directly to your device’s Camera Roll. There’s also improved navigation for Google Reader RSS folders, despite the service getting killed off this summer.

The updated Flipboard is now available in the App Store. The app is a free download if you haven’t yet had the chance to try it out.
