Sprint To Start Offering Total Equipment Protection Service For iPhone On January 25

After previously choosing not to offer this service, it looks like Sprint has changed its mind and will begin offering its Total Equipment Protection (TEP) service to iPhone customers on January 25.

Similar to its AppleCare+ policy, Sprint customers will be given 30 days from the time of their purchase to add the TEP to their account and it will cost $11 per month. Unlike Apple’s own coverage though, the Total Equipment Protection service comes with some pretty significant deductibles. There will be two deductibles based how much you pay for the iPhone: a $150 deductible will be applied for iPhones that cost between $549.99 to $599.99 and a $200 deductible for phones priced over $600.

So if you’re with Sprint and you know you can be accident prone and AppleCare+ isn’t really what you’re looking for, starting January 25 you’ll have another insurance option to choose from because, as Sprint puts it, “Sometimes you can’t avoid life’s little surprises.”

It’s a pretty steep price to pay though…
