Kantar Worldpanel ComTech’s latest smartphone sales data shows that Apple has gotten its highest ever smartphone sales share in the U.S. with 53.3 percent in the past 12 weeks. According to the data, the iPhone 5 really helped boost sales. In Europe, though, Android stayed at the top with highest shares of 61 percent of the market, which is up from 51.8 percent a year ago.
Apple’s increase in market share sales comes at the expense of Canadian Blackberry manufacturer RIM, which has had a hard time retaining users. Hoping to make a comeback, RIM will be unveiling its new Blackberry 10 platform at an event on January 30th.
