Man Pleads No Contest In Steve Jobs Home Burglary Case, Apologizes To Jobs’ Wife

The ex-San Jose State football player accused of robbing Steve Jobs’ house last July has pleaded no contest to the charges. Kariem McFarlin, 35, broke into Jobs’ house and stole $60,000 in jewelry, Jobs’ wallet and driver’s licence, iPhones, iPads, iPods, Mac computers and champagne, police said. Kariem claimed he didn’t know the house belonged to Jobs until he was inside and saw a letter addressed to the late Apple CEO.

The police investigation into the robbery showed a link to a handful of other recent robberies in the Bay area. McFarlin was arrested August 2nd and subsequently charged with eight accounts of felony robbery and one felony account of selling stolen property.

McFarlin was caught by police after he signed into iTunes on one of Jobs’ iPads. He now faces up to seven years and eight months in prison. Sentencing is scheduled to take place January 17th.

McFarlin has also since apologized to Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell, for the troubles that he’s caused her family.
