Google Maps Street View Gets Biggest Update Ever

Google has been getting a lot of attention lately after being removed from Apple’s iOS 6 operating system. And today Google announced that it’s giving Google Maps Street View the biggest, most comprehensive update yet. Google is doubling the number of special collections and updating over 250,000 miles of roads around the world.

Street View coverage is being increased in a number of countries including Macau, Singapore, Sweden, the U.S., Thailand, Taiwan, Italy, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, and Canada.

Google is launching special collections in South Africa, Japan, Spain, France, Brazil, Mexico, and more. The special collections include historical landmarks from places like Stanley Park in Canada, Fort Canning Park in Singapore and Catherine Palace and Ferapontov Monastery in Russia.

With wider streets and more historical landmarks available, we can explore the world from the comfort of our own homes or plan trips and know what we can expect to see.
