Starbucks Passbook Support Comes To The UK And Canada, Still Waiting For iPhone 5 Compatibility

Earlier this month, Starbucks added Passbook support to its iOS app, becoming one of the first major brands to support Apple’s new mobile wallet app. Until today, though, Starbucks use with Passbook was only available in the U.S.. Now, a new update is bringing the feature to Canada and the UK.

The only thing missing from the update is iPhone 5 compatibility so when you’re using the app you may still see letterboxing around it, but it will still work normally.

After downloading the app and launching it you will be asked if you want to add your Starbucks card to Passbook. Once you agree to this, the app will then ask you which locations are your favorites. The purpose of this is to dial in the geolocation zones where the card will trigger so you can swipe it to easily launch your pass. Now you don’t have to search in your wallet for your card. Just swipe and pay by scanning the barcode, which is similar to the one used in the official app previously.

If you’re trying to add Starbucks to Passbook and not getting the “Add to Passbook” option in the Starbucks app, then just go to My Cards and tap the Manage Button. There will be an Add Card to Passbook button. You can use this to add other cards as well.
