Pinterest App Comes To The iPad, Finally, And Other Minor Improvements

Last week it was announced that Pinterest is opening up to the world by getting rid of its invite only service. This week the Pinterest app for iPhone is getting an update, bringing the popular app to the iPad, as well as to Android devices. Being an avid pinner, this is great news because now I can take my pinning with me on the road on a larger screen than the iPhone.

Pinterest, an online scrapbook, has reportedly grown to about 23 million users in July from around 1 million a year ago. It is a privately held company and currently doesn’t have any revenue-generating business but raised $100 million in funding at a reported $1.5 billion valuation in May.

Pinterest’s newfound availability comes as big time social networks are experiencing investor disenchantment. For instance, Facebook, the world’s #1 social networking company, is trading below its $38 a share IPO price due to worries of slow revenue growth and long-term money-making capabilities.

Pinterest is clearly trying to keep its momentum going and really make its mark on the world of social networking by opening its service up to the general public and now by bringing the app to the iPad. Making these moves is sure to bring Pinterest to a broader audience and definitely make it more appealing to those who haven’t yet checked it out.

Along with bringing Pinterest to the iPad, the app’s update also includes better usability for the iPhone as well as stability and performance improvements. You can also sign up right from the app. Follow the link below to starting pinning right from your iPad!
