YouTube App Will No Longer Be Included With iOS, Says Apple

Ever since the first iteration of the iPhone OS, a YouTube app has been included with all devices out of the box. And while most thought of this app as less than stellar (me included) because of its performance and user interface issues, it was still there for newer users and those who didn’t like the YouTube mobile web client. Unfortunately for those who liked the app, Apple has confirmed that that the YouTube application will no longer be included with iOS starting with the release of iOS 6 this fall. However, Apple has also confirmed that Google, the owner of YouTube, is indeed working on their own YouTube app for iOS. And if you’re not a fan of native YouTube apps, feel free to pop open Safari and head over to the official YouTube mobile site. If you would like to view Apple’s full statement on the issue, we’ve put it below:

Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.

What do you think of Apple pulling the YouTube app from iOS? While this is obviously another strike at a Googleless iOS, removal of the YouTube app could really grind the gears of some users. Sound off in the comments!
