Acorn 3.3 Released With Retina Canvas

NewImage

Acorn is one of our very favorite apps here at Macgasm. It is an affordable and lightweight image editor with a lot of style. Fresh out of the oven, Acorn has a new update that has some exciting features.

Gus Mueller:

Retina Canvas- if you have a Retina MacBook Pro, Acorn will provide a 1 to 1 mapping between screen and image pixels. So your images will look super awesome- and currently Acorn is the only image editor available that does this! Besides this new awesomeness, all the icons and other UI elements have been updated as well.

That’s not all, though! You can now redo a selection if you need it again. This makes things a lot easier if you’re going back and forth trying to spit out different variations of a file. Your exact selection can easily be called back now. Smart layer export is available in this release as well. It’s never been easier to produce and export Retina-caliber graphics.

Also of note is that this is the first release of Acorn with sandboxing enabled in the App Store version. Most users won’t see a difference, but users that have certain types of scripts running might need to rejigger their workflow to comply to the new lockdown imposed by Apple for security’s sake.

This is a free update to owners of Acorn 3.x, and new users can pick it up for only $49.99 USD.
