Getting great photos can be hard. Now that our phones are about as good as any point and shoot camera available, the only way the hardware is going to get better is by buying an expensive DSLR and hauling it around everywhere. Shine that noise. That’s not the only way you can get better photos, though. Being able to control your lighting is a big deal, and The Kick aims to do just that.
This device is a handheld lighting device that connects to your iPhone to completely control the lighting. Use the color picker in the Kick’s app, and your photos will be tinted with that color. Want lighting effects for your movie? It can be programmed with time delays. If you want something easier, you can just select a video on your device, use the color picker to select a small area of the movie, and the Kick will mimic anything happening in the video.
If you want a Kick of your very own, you’re going to need to drop $149.00 USD on Kickstarter. Shipping in the US is free, but international shipping needs an additional $15.00 USD. As of publication, they are at about $40,000 USD of their $115,000 USD goal with 33 days remaining.
