Check out this experimental gesture based calculator for the iPhone

Listen, I know what you’re thinking. You’re saying to yourself, “how can a calculator app be sexy.” Here’s the thing: the Rechner Calculator from the aeliox team is pretty much everything you’d think a calculator couldn’t be, but straight up sexy it is nonetheless.

While I’ve been on a crusade about poorly implemented gesture interactions across iOS apps, this may be one of the more creative, and intriguing uses of a gesture system that I’ve come across in quite some time.

The Rechner Calculator has gesture functions for + / – / =, and clearning your entry. Swipe from left to right, and you’re in addition mode. Swipe from right to left and you’re in subtraction mode. You get the idea.

It sure looks a lot sexier than the native calculator app that ships with iOS.
