Massively popular iOS app Snapseed getting Mac release in 2012

Hipsterizing your photos doesn’t have to be an iOS affair, and Nik Software will be bringing the experience to the Mac, announcing that its popular iOS app, Snapseed, will be available for Apple’s big cat (Lion, duh) via the Mac App Store some time this year.

Michael J. Slater, Nik Software CEO:

We’re thrilled with the success and worldwide recognition of our popular mobile app and are excited to bring the Snapseed experience to Mac users for the first time … By bringing Snapseed to the Mac App Store, we’re able to quickly extend our reach to a worldwide audience of creative amateur photographers while offering our existing mobile users the fully-featured Mac experience they’ve been asking for.

Essentially, if the feature is in the iOS app, you can now do the same on the Mac. iPhoto better watch its back, because Snapseed is about to eat its lunch.

Where have you heard of Snapseed? Apple named it the 2011 iPad app of the year. The iPhone/iPad application weighs in at $4.99, and the Mac App Store version will cost $19.99 once it’s released.
