GoDaddy: Sexist SOPA supporters are suffering

December 26, 2011

Legal Battles

GoDaddy, the Maxim Magazine of web hosts, is no longer only known as the company that took a time machine back to the 70s to sell their product using dumb women and big boobs; they’re now known as a SOPA supporter… and have paid for it with 72,354 domains that were yanked from their customer list.

It seems that GoDaddy’s support of SOPA (Stop Online Privacy Act), an American bill which would deal the biggest blow against the Internet that this generation has ever seen, has aroused the ire of customers. As a result, domains are leaving en masse to show their dissatisfaction and outrage. This is no mere online petition, folks: GoDaddy has lost 72,354 domains in only five days, with 21,054 of those jumping ship on Friday alone (representing a single day’s loss of $147, 167 USD).

GoDaddy has said that they’ve pulled their support for SOPA, but this is more than likely just a Hail Mary to stop haemorrhaging business (as Techcrunch points out, this reversal isn’t actually official, so nothing’s changed there). There’s no doubt that, with this much of their tight-t-shirt domain hosting empire going down the toilet that they’re going to try anything to stop the exodus.

I find it funny that it requires SOPA to mobilize the Internet to turn their backs on GoDaddy. I guess blatant sexism still doesn’t move enough needles.

Don't you like big boobs? I do.
You shouldn't take off your frustrations by saying godaddy is
sexist because you can't get one of these womans for yourself.

It's stupid to buy a product because they advertise using a woman with big boobs. It's even more stupid to leave a company because of that. Only the technical details should matter, nothing else.

Since they fail at everything, there's really no reason to stay with GoDaddy, but this post of yours saying they are sexist is ridiculous.

What's wrong with you people from USA? Everything is sexist for you, JEEZ.

No, "I'm not an Hypocrite" - you are NOT a Hypocrite.  YOU ARE A MORON!  When the tables turn and you see more and more advertising of hot, young muscular, well-endowed dumb males in advertisements for cleaning products and other things targeted towards female audiences, maybe you will have an IOTA of an idea of  what sexist advertisements feel like to its viewers.  Until then, I'm glad I don't have "men" (using that term loosely here) like you in my life!  Serious respect to you, Jwcorey!  You are a REAL man!  ;)

Sex sells. Always has. Always will.

What you don't think about is what led them there.

I like big boobs.

And yet this post features a boob shot of a woman's torso without the model's face.

BTW, I notice Apple is also on that same list
supporting SOPA. Where is the indignation? The outrage?

Oh please, do ya think they're rocket scientists? Any women who has to use they're body parts which are plastic most of the time, to "get ahead" in life are f*&%ing idiots! And the jack-ass firm Go Daddy who thinks its cute by objectifying women are just as stupid!

While I agree that GoDaddy's support of SOPA and their chosen advertising model reprehensible, I must object to you calling the woman in the ads "dumb". These are real people who have just as much dignity as anyone else. Just because they give in and use their beauty for inappropriate reasons is not reason enough to deride them.
