Popular application launcher Alfred has officially hit 1.0. While the basic application launching is still completely free, most of the new and interesting things are being done on the premium part of the product called the Powerpack. This update brings with it an improvement to the global hotkey functionality, URL history, and a few more neat things that make the use and customization more streamlined.
Alfred has become an indispensable part of my workflow, and I appreciate it mainly because of its consistency and speed. When I first saw their 1.0 announcement, I was excited to go and update my copy, but then I realized that I never even bought the Powerpack in the first place. I had simply been using the free version. Ashamed of my laziness, I went to their store to buy a license.
For £12, I could buy a single computer license for 1.x releases of the Alfred Powerpack. For £22, I could buy a pack of five licenses. Instead, I opted for their “Mega supporter” license that includes a license for the Powerpack for the lifetime of the product, and that starts at £30. For me, it was well worth dropping about $49.00 USD on an app that I use daily. I love it, and I recommend that you give it a try.
