While I don’t miss the heavy CRTs that were in these bubble backed iMacs, I do miss the personality. These computers were fun, a big jump from the beige boxes of its time. I wouldn’t mind Apple bringing back some color into their product lines. What do you think? Colors or streamlined aluminum?

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to take a look at some awesome apps for each platform: iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS. Today, we’re focusing on music, pictures, and iOS screenshots.
CNN has taken a look back at 2011 and pointed out its tech failures, and Apple’s name came up three times: Once as a sort-of sideways compliment, and two pokes in the eyeball with a dirty finger.
Like we don’t have enough to worry about in this crazy life, it seems there may be evidence your iPhone is trying to kill you. And it just might succeed.
You’re going to want to turn up those headphones and catch the full on effect of this fantastic YouTube video of a kid getting an iPod touch for Christmas. It’s pretty, well, surreal. At one point it looks like the kid passes out from the excitement.
I’m not sure that I’ve ever actually freaked out like this when receiving a gift. Have you?
Before you get all, “he’s spoiled,” ask yourself if you have ever received a video game console, computer, or anything remotely similar for the holidays. We welcome the LAWLs in the comments, but don’t be all douche about it.
I wonder if any kids freaked out like this after opening up a Playbook.
Pixar holds a special place in a lot of people’s hearts these days. There’s a lot of things that Steve Jobs gave to the world, but one of them that often gets overlooked is Pixar and its computer animated films. It’s hard to imagine a world where Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. may not have existed.
Co. Design has an interesting article up on its site about how Steve Jobs and John Lasseter transformed animation forever.
Even though Jobs had been ousted from Apple, if there’s one thing he understood more than anyone else, it was the power of delightful designs to reinvigorate brands, connect with new customers, and create whole new businesses. That’s what Luxo, Jr. was: a public service announcement saying “Hey! Computer animation is going to be big. Get in on the ground floor now.”
It’s an interesting read, and we recommend checking it out.
Halfbrick has a Puss In Boots edition of Fruit Ninja on the market, but they probably never thought for a moment that a cat — yup, a cat — was actually a better Fruit Ninja player than most of the game’s fans.
Hopefully this cute Fruit Ninja dominating cat hasn’t sliced up that iPad screen too much. Check it out on YouTube.
Retina display iPad 3 rumors are popping up again. This time the rumor focuses on who is actually making the display panels, instead of focusing on whether or not the iPad 3 will actually have a Retina display. It’s nice to know that the Retina display in the iPad 3 is now a forgone conclusion.
Starting with the new iPads, Apple will utilize IGZO panels from Sharp in order to upgrade the display resolution of the new tablets to full HD level, the sources indicated. To enter the supply chain of iPads, Sharp has switched some of its capacity for large-size panels to the production of small-size panels for smartphones and tablet PCs, said the sources, adding that Sharp will also continue to roll out its Galapagos tablet lineup in 2012 using IGZO panels.
Expect to hear about Retina displays in the iPad 3 until the next iPad ships sometime this year. Sharp has also been outed as the company responsible for the display panels for Apple’s rumoured, and potentially upcoming, Apple Television. Kind of makes you wonder if this rumor is just an extension of the television rumor earlier this week.
