Siri is now running smoothly, for the most part, on all iOS 5 devices. To be specific, those devices are the iPad 1, iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G, and the iPod touch 4G.
Jackoplane, the mastermind behind this hack, has announced today that he has successfully ported Siri to other devices running iOS 5, and has gotten them to communicate with Apple’s servers without any issues. What this means essentially is that all iOS 5 devices are indeed capable of running Siri. The best part? No jailbreaking is required.
I know you’re anxious right now. All you want to know is when, where, and how. Well folks, don’t hold your breath. Although the main part has been done, Jack says, “the hardest part is still ahead.” Regardless, the best part besides Siri being available on iPads and iPod touches is that you don’t have to jailbreak to get the assistant when she becomes available. Jack mentioned that you’ll use a program called NSFileManager. This allows you to access the files of your iOS device directly. However, something tells me that Apple will be working on patching up the open access points soon.
To give people a sense of what he’s doing and where he is in the process, Jack tweeted out an F.A.Q.

For those of you who don’t believe this for whatever reason, Jack mentions that a video demoing Siri on the various devices is in the works. What do you think? Do you want Siri on all devices or do you think it should remain exclusive to the 4S? Share your wisdom below!

LikeI looked at @Jackoplane's tweets and one of them says: "Okay, so many blogs are getting this wrong, you DO need a jailbreak for Siri. I currently don't have a JB to get the info I need from the 4S"

LikeBut NSFileManager isn't an app, it's a call in the iOS SDK.
You would need an app to be created to use it, and for people to use it without Jailbreaking that app would need to be released on the App Store (or you'd need a friendly developer to install it to your device for you, and we can only do this for 100 devices a year)
Therefore it won't happen without a Jailbreak.

LikeWIth Apple promoting the exclusivity of Siri on the iPhone 4s, I doubt they will allow other iOS devices to freely communicate with their server for much longer. I would expect a patch for this relatively soon.

LikeI'm afraid I'm with you King. At least initially, Apple will protect the exclusivity for the iPhone 4S.
Still, keep us posted Macgasm team. This post was great Jared.
