Apple to hold October press event on campus?

TownHall Apple to hold October press event on campus?
Straying from the usual venue, Yerba Buena center in San Francisco, Apple may be holding its October 4th press event on campus in Cupertino. This is a move that has everyone wondering if this is a scheduling issue or the personal preference of their new CEO, Tim Cook.

Historically, major Apple announcements have been held at the Yerba Center, including those for every iPhone announcement as well as both iPad debuts. We should know the definitive answer soon enough, as invitations will likely start landing later this week. It’s appearing likely that we will see Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium as the cited venue.

iPhoneGoogleNow Google+ update brings hangouts to iPhone
When Google+ for iPhone launched, we were pretty amped on it, but noted the obvious lack of Hangouts. We felt that Hangouts was one of the most alluring features Google+ had going for it, and was a solid reason to want to migrate from Facebook.

That is no longer an issue any more as the latest update of Google+ introduces Hangouts to iPhone users! The update allows you to join Hangouts already in session, though it appears there isn’t a way to start one yet.

top macgasmic posts15 Top Macgasmic posts of the week: September 19th EditionWell hello there again. How’s that weekend going? Looking back at the previous week and what you all loved, I’m a little surprised that there’s not a single iPhone 5 rumor in the bunch. Are you all just over it? At this point we are so close it really seems silly to keep speculating. We are about to know for sure any day now. So what did you guys love and click on this week? Apparently Joshua’s post on Apple Stock soaring higher than it has before excited you. I know it excites me, but that’s because I purchased just before the iPhone announcement in 2007 (mmmmmmhhmmmm, oh yes I did). It looks like you guys are loving Susan’s review of the iNecklace as well. Joshua’s article on iCloud backup resets were tops. I am actually more interested on how the transition from MobileMe to iCloud is going to go. I’m not going to lie, I’m actually a bit shocked to see that so many people care about having MSN chat in your iChat (sorry). Last up for our most popular posts this week was one from Josh W. on the Redsn0w 0.0.9b1 Jailbreak. Thanks for all the clicks and comments this week!

macgasm weekly rewind1 Macgasm weekly rewind: September 19th EditionThe Macgasm weekly rewind focuses on our original content and reviews that you may have missed the week starting September 19th.

Happy Saturday my little geeklets, how is everyone doing? Need something to do tonight? Look no further, I’ve got some hot reads for you. On the softer side of geek we have Susan’s review of the iNecklace, this season’s must have girly geek accessory! Joshua reviews Songsterr for the iPad. He also shows us how to get MSN chat into your iChat with Cocoon. Joshua was busy this week as he also brought to our attention some sweet glowing Apple speakers for the iPhone. Corey brought us another cool iPhone accessory, an alarm clock “toaster”. Josh W. brings us what he has dubbed the “sexiest GTD app to date”. Joshua and Eugene teamed up for this week’s audio podcast. Then I dig deep into our Macgasm Flickr pool and find you some well preserved clamshell iBooks. Enjoy the rest of your day and I’ll see you tomorrow with this weeks top posts.

Weekly reminder to follow us, now with obsolete s***!

obsolete stuff Weekly reminder to follow us, now with obsolete s***!So this has made me giggle two weeks in a row when I have been in the Macgasm Flickr pool mining for treats. I think Ken meant that Steve was done with Snow Leopard and we all should move on over to Lion. I however took it as the CD itself was obsolete. I’m pretty sure Steve Jobs hates CDs and mice. Lion’s gestures are clearly made for the Magic Trackpad (can we please drop the word magic from everything already??). Go ahead and mark my words on this… The next major redesign of the MacBook Pro (or what ever they call it) will be without an optical drive. And with that said, why don’t you follow us on all of our outlets so you can mock me incessantly if I’m wrong!

Flickr Find Friday: Clamshell iBooks

ibooks Flickr Find Friday: Clamshell iBooksClamshell, toilet seat, or purse (due to the cute little handle it had) iBook, call it what you want but these little babies were fancy back in the day. Did you know they shipped with a 3GB hard drive… 3GBs?!?!?! That wouldn’t even hold my downloads folder (yes, I’m that user). This was Apple’s first iBook and it came in three colors: Blueberry, Tangerine and Graphite. To this day we still have people bringing them into our repair shop hoping to squeeze out just a little bit more life from them. I was a PowerBook kind of girl at the time, but man did I have some handle envy. This shot was uploaded to our glorious Macgasm Flickr Pool by Malagent.

Do you want to be a photographer or just play one on the web? Here’s your chance! Join Macgasm’s Flickr group and upload all your beauty shots of your Apple gear. Each week we select one lucky participant to be featured on Flickr Find Friday. Go join our Flickr Group now. Get creative. Upload up to 7 pics a day. Tune in on Fridays (like you ever miss a post, right?) and see if you have what it takes to be featured. Good luck and happy snapping.

Samsung to Apple: “I’ll get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too!”

wicked witch Samsung to Apple: Ill get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too!

In an ever-escalating game of “No, YOU shut up,” Samsung has promised that they will step up legal attacks against Apple to whup their asses for what Samsung calls “free riding” on their patented technologies. Samsung’s Lee Younghee told Associated press that they’ve been “passive” with Apple up till now, but are about to stop playing Mr. Nice Tech Company. ”We’ll be pursuing our rights for this in a more aggressive way from now on,” she said before disappearing in a cloud of smoke while a disembodied cackle could be heard in the distance.
