Well happy Friday my friends! I was browsing through the Macgasm Flickr pool last night and Ken Fager officially cracks me up. It wasn’t the picture as much as the title “Unintentional CEO Cosplay”. Do you think that Steve Jobs ever looks at that picture of him and wonders how they talked him into putting his hand up like that? Or why this is the most popular pic of him of all time? I wonder. I really do. If you want to wonder with us, join us in all of our various social sites. Come on, you know you want to.

Flickr Find Friday: Music
September 30, 2011
It looks like my friend Digitalnative, aka Colin Harris, has taken on a 365 day photography project. Luckily for us, his Apple products are often the subject. While the Apple earbuds would have been more “Appley” as they are quite iconic, I prefer these types as well. The earbuds hurt the hell out of my tiny girl ears. There I said it. I dislike them quite a bit (hangs head in shame). Thanks Collin for taking the time to upload your fabulous pics to Macgasm’s Flickr Pool.

Do you want to be a photographer or just play one on the web? Here’s your chance! Join Macgasm’s Flickr group and upload all your beauty shots of your Apple gear. Each week we select one lucky participant to be featured on Flickr Find Friday. Go join our Flickr Group now. Get creative. Upload up to 7 pics a day. Tune in on Fridays (like you ever miss a post, right?) and see if you have what it takes to be featured. Good luck and happy snapping.
Psystar loses appeal against Apple
September 29, 2011
You may remember Psystar from the news of 2008, when Apple filed a suit against them for copyright infringement. Since then, Psystar’s appeal against the 2010 ruling against them has been shot down and this may well be the end of their story. In case you don’t recall, Psystar was making computers that ran OS X and, thusly, were selling “Mac clones”. The problem is that part of the license for using OS X is that it be used on Apple hardware only, and so Psystar was pretty clearly trying to sip Apple’s milkshake.
Amazing iPhone 5 mockup based on known rumors
September 29, 2011

While only Apple can tell you for sure what the iPhone 5 will look like, BENM.AT has decided to compile some of the more likely rumors into a physical mocked up prototype.
They milled the back panel from a solid block of aluminum which they then blasted with glass pearls to get that rough texture that is present on the iPad. Once finished they affixed a front glass panel complete with a capacitive elongated home button.
Where’s My Water? Disney Mobile’s Latest Game for iOS
September 29, 2011
Where’s My Water?
Where’s My Water?, a game developed by Disney Mobile for iOS, is said to be taking aim at the Angry Birds empire. The $0.99 game isn’t just for kids though – it actually gets quite difficult as you go along, making it challenging and enjoyable for adults as well.
The game has a simple storyline that doesn’t require words or audio to understand. When you open the app, you are shown that Swampy lives in a sewer and just wants some clean water to bathe in. Your task is to make sure the clean water gets to Swampy’s shower by digging through the ground, moving gates, and avoiding toxic substances.
RIM shutting down the PlayBook? (update: Rebuttal from RIM)
September 29, 2011
Alas, poor PlayBook: After a short time on market suffering the slings of arrows of critical and public derision, it looks like RIM may be putting the PlayBook to bed for good. It’s still at the rumor stage, so keep your salt-shaker handy, but reports are coming in that RIM has decided to can production of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and may be leaving the tablet market completely. BGR has an interesting article online about it, and says that Collins Stewart analyst John Vinh told investors about it this morning citing sources at Quanta, the PlayBook manufacturers.
World of Warcraft 4.3 content revealed
September 29, 2011
Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft keeps on keeping on, now well into its 6th year and seeing another major point release (content patch 4.3), complete with new raids, new items, new faces on old places (like Darkmoon Faire and Zul’Aman, to name two) and the final epic battle against Deathwing the Destroyer. Blizzard did a little Q&A session with World of Warcraft’s Lead Encounter Designer, Scott Mercer and the challenges of getting this grandiose final encounter into the game.
New Humble Indie Bundle: Frozen Synapse
September 29, 2011
Once again, the folks behind the Humble Indie Bundle have provided us with an almost-too-good-to-be-true gaming deal, called “Frozen Synapse”. In case you’re not familiar with how the Humble Indie Bundle works, it’s a fully cross-platform (Mac, Windows, Linux) collection of indie games that you can buy for any amount you like. Though the current bundle is worth approximately $76, you can spend anything you want… all the way from $0.01, if that’s your inclination. Why pay more than the bare minimum? Because you can tell the Humble Indie Bundle people how you would like your donation to be earmarked between the Child’s Play charity, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the indie devs who made the games or the Humble Indie Bundle folks themselves. There’s no DRM on the games once you have them. It’s straight-up between you and your conscience as to what you’d like to pay and where you want your money to go. (more…)
