The Wall St Journal is reporting that Steve Jobs has officially resigned from Apple.
Here’s the Press Release:
Letter from Steve Jobs
August 24, 2011–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it.
And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
We’ll update more as it comes in…
Update: Reuters is reporting the same on their Twitter account

Anyone who has ever tried getting in shape without a workout buddy, a personal trainer, or a drill sergeant knows how difficult it can be to get motivated. A gym membership can be expensive, not to mention inconvenient. Nike has offered up NTC (Nike Training Club) as a free, ad-free, no excuses solution for newbies and fitness addicts alike.
Not only do you get a simple, sexy way to get in shape, but you get rewards! When you enter the app, you get two figures: your total training time, and what you need to do to hit your next level reward. A celebrity (i.e. Lea Michele, Hope Solo) is featured with their personal workout that you can do. From here you have two options; choose a workout, or do a quick conditioning corps routine.
When you go to choose your workout, you choose your workout by goal. I love this feature. My biggest problem with working out is that I know what I want the end result to be, but have no clue how to get there. Each goal (get lean, get toned, get strong, get focused) then has three levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). NTC has to be the closest you can get to a personalized workout without splurging for a personal trainer.

Apple shot out an email last night to all developers just before 10 pm announcing its new Sales and Trends Auto Ingest Tool. The Java based script runs on any piece of hardware supporting Java 1.6 or later and lets you automatically retrieve your daily and weekly reports from the Sales and Trends module in iTunes Connect.
The email itself made it very clear that access to this tool is monitored and appeared to suggest that any abuse will be dealt with swiftly and with an iron fist. (more…)

The legal battle between Apple and Samsung continues today, as a dutch judge in The Hague has ruled that Samsung has violated one patent, and ordered the company to stop marketing the Galaxy S, SII and Ace in the Netherlands.
The ruling isn’t a complete loss for Samsung, however. The judge ruled that while Samsung did violate patent 2,059,868, a method of scrolling, the company didn’t not violate Apple’s patents for recording a flag in connection with multiple screen taps (2,098,948), or the patent that relates to dragging a slider to unlock the phone (1,964,022).

Last week, everyone was up in arms about a Software Update version of OS X 10.7.1 hitting without a complimentary Mac App Store version. Well, if you were among the unhappy you can rest easy now, as Apple has updated the installer package served in the App Store.
Weighing in at around 3.5 gigs, almost identical to the original GM release of Lion, the update puts an end to users having to use the built in updater to incremently update their OS versions.
Apple is also on the cusp of releasing 10.7.2, which was seeded to developers last week. An official release date has yet to be announced, but it will likely be available via the Mac App Store immediately.

When I think iPad stylus, I immediately think Ten One. The original Pogo Sketch has pretty much dominated the stylus space since its release. Now the New Jersey based company has stepped it up and is offering a stylus catering to artists and design professionals with the Pogo Sketch Pro.
Machined from a single piece of Aluminum, the Pogo Sketch Pro is ergonomically designed for people that require precision and comfort. It ships with two removable tip options and a cushy rubber grip to keep your hands from cramping during those long renders! The company also states they will be releasing a small pack of additional tips that will go on sale in October.
