As console versions of Grand Theft Auto move ever closer to a realistic representation of the urban environment, portable titles have stuck with the tongue in cheek tone that made GTA so fun in the first place.
GTA: Chinatown Wars was released way back in January 2010, and demonstrated how a return to the top-down-viewpoint could still be a valid approach for the series. It also showed how the iPhone could give both Nintendo and Sony a run for their handheld money. Arguably a little expensive ($9.99) compared to other games, Rockstar has rewarded those with patience by dropping the price to a criminal $2.99.

Most of the time looking up words and proper spellings is as easy as typing a word right into Spotlight: input the word, and get a definition. This is great for trying to figure out if you’ve spelled a word right, or better yet, if you want to make sure you’re using the word properly. But, in this case you have to know the word you’re looking up. If you don’t, Spotlight isn’t much help in this capacity.
With Lion, Apple has introduced a new trackpad tweak that lets you bring up the dictionary, and look up words you don’t know from directly within the text. All you have to do is mouse over the word, then double tap with three fingers. Doing this should highlight the word yellow, and load the dictionary.
There you go. You no longer have to head to Google to look up that word that’s outside of your lexicon.
Don’t forget to check out our Lion review.

Hey. Do me a favour? Are you using Safari as your main browser? Go check out Activity Monitor, sort the columns by “Real Memory” with the largest at the top, and tell me what you see. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
Do you see something called Safari Web Content? That’s part of the new Safari 5.1. It’s a part of the “sand-boxing” that Safari does, keeping pages loaded in their own compartmentalized areas, so that if a process on one page crashes, it doesn’t take down everything with it.
Well, now that it’s a separate process from Safari, it’s easier to see just how much memory Safari Web Content is taking up. In fact, it takes up quite a bit, with some users reporting that with many tabs open the memory usage can get over 1.0GB or more. If you’re experiencing this, you’ll probably notice Safari getting slow as the memory creeps up. So, what to do?

Back in May we reported that Qualcomm was moving to bring their augmented reality software kit to the iPhone. It was already available for Android at the time, so the realease was expected to put the competing operating systems on even ground. On Wednesday Qualcomm launched their SDK for iOS.
The SDK is compatible with the iPhone 4, fourth-generation iPod touch, and iPad 2, leaving behind all the previous generation devices. In some cases it makes sense, like the iPhone, but with the original iPad still in a lot of homes, it’s a bit of a head scratcher that they left it off the docket.
If you want to check out some augmented reality applications, check out the applications listed below.

It’s not a normal week unless someone decides it is time to sue Apple. Adding to the ever growing pile this time around is Affinity Labs, who has sued Apple in the past, and who claims that Apple is violating two patents related to media playback.
