As we pass by the week of July 25th it looks like Lion and iPhone rumors are pretty much all you guys care about. Well, with the exception of Marco’s post on Final Fantasy Tactics. You guys also seem to be very excited about that one. Wayne did a thorough review of Lion Server. Joshua and Josh had you covered with iPhone 5 rumors. Last we have Stephen’s epic Lion review that even includes videos. Thanks again for reading and participating in the comments this week!

The Macgasm weekly rewind focuses on our original content and reviews that you may have missed the week starting July 15th.
We’re on week two of Lion being the new cat in town and we are all still getting to know it. I have a feeling we will be finding fun little useful things in it for months. In addition to some great Lion posts, we had some app reviews, new releases, and a head to head opinion piece on Final Cut Pro X by two of our video professionals that write for us. Hope you’re having a great weekend. Thanks for reading.

Some new photos of supposed iPhone 5 cases have been leaked, and along with them come some details of a wider iPhone with a tapered design.
The new photos are much clearer than previous leaks, and the images come with measurements, showing that the iPhone will be somewhere around 4.9 inches tall and 2.7 inches wide.
This new larger size is likely due to a larger screen being used for the iPhone 5.

I love this. The attention to detail, the love put into it, and it’s friggen cake! I know I’ve featured Ken before, but in my defense, the man has uploaded some fantastically fun stuff to our Flickr group. You know we have a Flickr group right?

iTunes has remained fairly unchanged since its initial launch on January 9th, 2001, but iTunes 11 could bring with it a complete redesign.
At this point, the question is not whether iTunes will get an overhaul to its aging UI, but when. Sources are saying that the next major release, iTunes 11, could answer that question.
Along with a redesigned UI, we are also expecting to see full blown iCloud integration, which in theory could allow you to stream your media library to all of your computers, without using up any disk space, as well as save device backups and your advancements on Cut The Rope.

1TapFaceTime, a new free app available in the App Store, aims to make the process of starting a FaceTime call with your contacts a whole lot easier.
Given the choice, I would choose FaceTime from my computer 100% of the time over iPhone. This is entirely due to how tedious it is to find a contact and initiate the call.

The Mac App Store has made it dead-simple to reinstall applications after catastrophe strikes, and it’s even made it simple to move your purchases from one machine to another. Leading up to the App Store, it was generally expected that consumers would have to purchase a software license for every single computer they wished to install an application on, unless otherwise stated.
Apple’s been pretty great about leaving their software DRM free over the years, without the need for serial keys and other inconvenient software locks that are more of a problem for the technologically challenged than the savvy user, but even Apple advocated purchasing multiple licenses for multiple computers. Previously Apple would sell family packs of their applications, including operating systems, that were slightly discounted to provide users with incentive to purchase multiple licenses.

While the Titanium PowerBook G4 doesn’t look like a stunner now, back in its day it was a game changer. At about an inch thick, it was nearly half the thickness of the previous generation of PowerBooks. The Titanium was sleek and sexy and put a serious dent in your wallet at a starting price tag of $2,599. While years later the entry level model made its way down to a measly $2,199. This model here, the 1GHz, would set you back $2,999. Ouch, right? This was the start of Apple’s portable revolution. People on both sides of the computing platform fence took notice. I actually haven’t thought much about this model in years so I thank you Keith Seekwhence for uploading your shot to our Macgasm Flickr Pool.
