Apple releases Thunderbolt Firmware Update

June 27, 2011

Apple Inc., Mac

This evening, Apple released a firmware update for Thunderbolt-equipped Macs. The update, which is 486 KB, isn’t shipping with a lot of details:

This update provides Thunderbolt performance and stability fixes.

After installing the update, the computer will restart and a gray screen will appear with a status bar. Apple warns that you shouldn’t shut off the computer until the update is complete.

The update can be found in Software Update.

My wife just updated her iMac i5 Quad Core.  I'll be updating my MacBook Pro i7 Quad Core later tonight.  The update was quick, and went smoothly.

Of course the update was quick. It was only 93KB.
