Apple accused of racial discrimination after incident with employee at Upper West Side Apple Store

A new lawsuit against Apple has surfaced after an incident at the Upper West Side Apple Store. The incident involved Brian Johnston, 34, and Nile Charles, 25, who claim they were racially discriminated against on December 9th of last year.

The plaintiffs claim that a mid-50s white employee approached the two younger black men, telling them they had to see a Mac specialist or leave the store, as they were not welcome due to their race.

According to the legal filing, the employee told the two shoppers, “Before you say I’m racially discriminating against you, let me stop you. I am discriminating against you,. I don’t want ‘your kind’ hanging out in the store.”

The two plaintiffs found a store manager and explained the situation before leaving.

The suit, filed in February, accuses Apple of discrimination under both New York and federal civil rights laws for “emotional pain, suffering, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment of life, and other non-pecuniary losses.”

I'm not buying it what so ever. The "50 something year old" surely is not that ignorant to say such a thing, even if he DID feel that way. Sounds like it's all hear say but at the same time Apple Inc. probably will shovel out some MacMoney for two guys that are suing. It's a damn shame!

Typical! Why did it take them almost a year to file it?? Give me a freaking break!

Sad situation. It's unfortunate that we're still dealing with these types of issues.

Very unfortunate.

Typical black man trying to get money out of white people "because I'm black." If he was telling the truth, then he wouldn't be suing for "loss of enjoyment of life" because of one single remark.
