AT&T rep: Apple’s next iPhone due out in October

TekGoblin is reporting that the next iPhone is due out in October. At least, according to what an AT&T representative has said online.

According to the site, when asked about the next iPhone, the AT&T customer service rep said, “Actually I just got back from a cooperate [sic] meeting discussing the new iPhone 5. They said it won’t be put in stores till October now due to the White iPhone 4. Apple wants as many sales as possible.”

I’m going to call shenanigans on this AT&T employee.

While all signs are pointing to a fall release, I highly doubt that this rep knows anything about Apple’s upcoming products. The bit about the white iPhone sounds very fishy — wouldn’t Apple sell more new iPhones than ones that are a year old and just in a new color?

The employee is probably correct about the upcoming model lacking a 4G radio, though. But that — and the fall date — seem like pretty common knowledge to anyone at this point. Just because someone can be right about some things doesn’t mean they have the authority — or the knowledge — to make such claims. Reading Mac Rumors isn’t that tricky.
