Apple gearing up for back to school promotion already

Apple gearing up for back to school promotion alreadyWith college kids out of school for less than two weeks, and both high school and middle school student still plugging away and preparing for finals, Apple has allegedly decide that their annual Back to School promotion needs to start pronto.

Come on!

We get that most students love these promotions because they usually walk away with a free iPod touch, but do we really need back to school promotions creeping into the spring, before most kids are even out of school? It seems like this promotion gets earlier and earlier every year.

I probably sound like an old man, don’t I.

Normally these promotions are a way of clearing out stock for new iOS products, but rumors this year have the iPhone 5 (4S) shipping in the fall. It’s being reported that the promotion will likely roll out some time next week, before any announcements of the next iPhone or iPod touch are officially made.

Have you taken advantage of the back to school promotion? Does getting a free iPod touch get you into the store and purchasing a new machine, or upgrading an old one? It’s certainly a sweet deal if you’re in the market for a new computer.

From what I am seeing from the advertisement. Is this back to school deal going to be exclusive to the MacBook and not the MacBook Pro? And now they are giving a free Ipod Nano instead of a Ipod Touch which is a bummer.

Really? You're that dumb? Hahaha

I love all my Apple products and believe me- I own the whole damn family. The thing that really drives me crazy is that the student specials are only ever available to College/University students and teachers. I have a special needs son that has worked on a computer in school since grade 3. I'd love for them to offer something that would benefit all kids.

It's advertised that way, but they aren't all that strict about it. Have you tried getting in on the promotion?

We have tried with no luck. I've actually talked directly to Apple about this policy. It's the same as they keep promoting the iPad for autistic kids but offer nothing to help get an iPad in these kids hands. I understand it's not Apples responsibility but when they continue to promote and advertise the benefits surely some sort of program could be offered. The other side of the coin is that tablets aren't covered through the government programs when a child has been identified as needing assistive technology again even though the benefits have been proven again and again. I know that this is more than what you intended with this post and I apologize for that.

Josh, are you on the porch yelling for those damn kids to get off your lawn? ;-)

This actually has me thinking.. Maybe they are clearing out stock and bundling the iPhone announcement with the annual fall iPod event?

You know, the more I think about it, the more I may agree with you. It kind of makes sense.
