YouTube Flashback: MobileMe Introduction

With lots of talk going around about the future of Apple’s rather meager cloud services, I couldn’t help but think back to when Apple introduced MobileMe back in 2008:



Described as “Exchange for the rest of us,” MobileMe brought calendar, contact and mail syncing across multiple devices and the web to Apple customers. While the initial launch was quite rocky, MobileMe is now quite reliable. While iDisk still suffers from major performance issues, everything else works quickly and smoothly on Macs, PCs and iOS devices.

With “iCloud” seemingly right around the corner, MobileMe’s probably in for some big changes here soon. Will cloud-based media storage become a separate service? Why can’t MobileMe be purchased right now? Hopefully, we’ll all find out soon.
