FLUD raises a cool million in funding

We’ve been featuring FLUD on Macgasm for a while now. We were one of the first websites to feature the RSS reader, and we’re happy to announce that they’ve managed to grab some investment to further their development of the application.

FLUD has raised a cool $1 million in seed funding from Detroit Venture Partners, Ludlow Ventures, and Behance Founder Scott Belsky.

The cool thing is that FLUD is looking to step beyond RSS and into the post-RSS world. Instead of focusing on social news based on who you’re following, FLUD’s looking to change the game by providing news based on where you are at any given moment.

We’re going to be taking FLUD for a spin in an upcoming video, so keep your eyes peeled for that. It’s a fantastic app, and we recommend giving it a download.

They really needed a revamp. I used FLUD for a few months but it just seemed a bit outdated. Looking forward to see what they do with the funds.

This just makes me more annoyed that they haven't updated their app in months. It's completely unusable at the moment. It crashes during the loading screen every 9/10 opens, which can be remedied for a few weeks by deleting and reinstalling the app, but that requires adding one's feeds all over again. I keep asking for help on the Flud Discussion board, and they just keep promising that a release is on the way. It's really disappointing, because I thought the app was a revelation when in first came out.

Hey Word is bond.. founder of FLUD here.. we are LITERALLY days away from an iphone update (this is the last time i will have to say this). The reason it has taken us this long is because until today we have been only working on FLUD at night and we wanted to spend our time making sure the iphone update is up to snuff. Also I had to spend a lot of time working details around our funding and that is very time consuming.

So sorry about the delay but stick around with us because we have some awesome things in the works.

Thanks for the love and we will not disappoint you.
