Donate to Japanese relief by buying an iPad 2 on eBay

iPad

A lot of people have been doing some interesting things to help Japan’s relief efforts. Some are donating proceeds from app purchases, some are donating Ad Sense revenue to charity, and others are selling iPad 2s on eBay.

We got a tip over Twitter about an iPad 2 that’s being sold to raise money for the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. The iPad 2 has a buy it now price of $200,000.00, but zero offers to date. The fine print states that 50% of the purchase will be donated through the eBay Giving Works initiative, and the other 50% will be donated after taxes, paypal fees, and original iPad 2 costs are paid.

In the market for an iPad? This might be a good way to pick one up.

As with all things on the internet, buyers beware.

Update: eBay has removed the auction.

Donating is great now matter how it’s done. I like to donate to stop the worst epidemic in America, obesity. I donate to Nourishing NYC, http://www.nourishingnyc.org/ They feed those without food, educate families and children on how to eat well and advocate for those with the least. It’s pretty cool.

Thanks for blogging about this, unfortunately eBay removed my listing about 5 minutes after your blog appeared. That's twice ebay interferes with this iPad 2.
