For those that are unaware, Super Meat Boy is a hugely successful platformer that took the gaming world by storm last year. Up until now, the game has only been available for Xbox Live and PC customers, despite the demand for a Mac version. In a recent interview with Bytejacker (around 13 minutes in), Super Meat Boy designer Tommy Refenes confirmed that the game will be released for the Mac soon. When asked why the decision was taken to release a Mac version, Refenes replied, “Because I like money now.”
Whether it’s for money reasons or not, I’m super excited that I’ll be able to play this game on my Mac. Super Meat Boy has developed a cult following since its release, and deservedly so. The game has simple mechanics but is surprisingly frustrating to play — in a totally good way. For me, it’s a wonderful homage to retro games. The level design is superb, and the characters are pretty darn funny, too.
If you haven’t played this yet, you’ll be in for a real treat when it arrives for the Mac. Just be sure to play Super Meat Boy when you’re in a good mood — I’ve been close to breaking my Xbox controller on many occasions due to this fantastically annoying game.

Gah. This thing was supposed to be released like last month, I thought. When the hell is it coming to the Mac?

LikeThey originally said it would be out for mac three months after the windows version was released. The big selling point was, prior to launch "Buy now for Windows and play on Mac in a few months!" The level editor was then bumped forward and they constantly talk now of their dislike of mac. I paid full price because I missed the original sale. It may not be much but Im a college student and that was a huge splurge for me. I don't know why there are not more complaints like this...
