Start your iTunes engines: iOS 4.3 has been released to the public

Start your iTunes engines: iOS 4.3 has been released to the publicIt looks like Jim Dalrymple was right. iOS 4.3 wasn’t shipping yesterday; it’s shipping today. I don’t know what to say, except Jim got it right, again.

The update servers seem to be a little bit buggy right now. It goes from saying there’s an update available to you already have the latest update over and over again. Instead of installing directly, it seems like downloading the update, then updating later is the way to go right now.

iOS 4.3 is weighing in at 596.9MB (for the iPad), and is available for all of your iOS devices with the exception of anything below iPhone 3G and the second generation iPod touch. Since I’m still rocking my iPhone 3G, I have no idea what the phone update is weighing in at yet, but we’ll update this post once we know more.

I know, I know—I should stop being cheap and update my iPhone.

Update: The Verizon iPhone 4 is excluded from the release, as we expected.

I'm downloading the update now, and it's 423.3MB.

I installed the developer GM last night. So far so good. I have unlimited data on my iPad and 5GB plan on my iPhone 4. I'm going to see if I can convince AT&T to allow me to put the unlimited on my iPhone 4 and turn on the hotspot service. Either way, they get their pound of flesh.

Let us know how that goes, I'd bet a lot of people are hoping to do the same thing.
