If you spend a lot of time listening to music over the internet, streaming from websites like Pandora, Rdio, and Grooveshark, you’re probably well aware that those nifty music control buttons on your keyboard don’t work with those services.
Sure, they control iTunes, but with everything moving to the cloud, including music, how nifty would it be to be able to pause, play and change tracks on Rdio and all the others with those keyboard buttons? Factotum has taken up the challenge and put together a nifty little application that lets you use your keyboard button to control 16 of the Internet’s most popular music services.

I am an avid fan of podcasts. I have a long commute every day so I’m able to squeeze around 3 hours of audio content in. Therefore, having some great quality, long-form audio is extremely useful to me.
I feel that Apple has let us down with podcast integration on the iPhone. Every time you want to download the latest episodes of your favourite shows you need to plug your iOS device into iTunes to do so. This isn’t useful for someone on-the-go, especially as Apple offers no way to download anything over 20MB over 3G from the iTunes store. But then, like a shining ray of light, Instacast came in to my life. I had used other podcatching apps in the past, but none had given me the full suite of services I required with the level of polish I enjoy.

It’s not every day that a major company reveals its sales data, but eBay bucked that trend today, revealing where people are buying after market iPad 2s.
It’s pretty crazy to think that so many people have turned to eBay to make a purchase from unofficial sources before Apple officially began shipping internationally.
Looks like Canada and Russia were the lucky winners.

Reddit has declared March 31 World Backup Day.
For a long time, backups were tricky for the average user. With OS X Leopard, however, Apple introduced Time Machine, a dead-simple way to backup data on a Mac.
However, most geeks know that there are more powerful options than Time Machine.

The Dickbar, in case you missed our chat in the podcast, on the site, and around Twitter, is the poorly implemented trending topics bar in Twitter’s iPhone app. At least it was, until today, when Twitter decide to take the Dickbar out back and flog it to death.
As of today Dickbar is dead. Twitter is now Dickbar free—for now. We don’t have much to say about it, but we thought you would like to know.
We’re not sure how long you’ll be able to live in a world without having promoted trends and accounts shoved in our face while you hang out on Twitter, but you might want to embrace it for as long as you can.
Like Myke said in his review, I wouldn’t mind personalized trends based on my followers. If Twitter can’t pull that off, I’d rather pay them a couple bucks a month to never, ever see another #winning trend again.
What about you? Did you get over the #dickbar, or are you happy that it’s finally end of life? Let us know in the comments.

The low-end iPad of yesteryear was previously available for $349 on Apple’s online refurbished store, but as of today, that particular model is no longer for sale.
The cheapest iPad 1 now available for sale is the Wi-Fi + 3G 16 GB at a mere $479.
As with the Mac, refurbished iPads are sold at a reduced price, and are warrantied as new.

Glasses-free 3D gaming could soon become a possibility on iOS devices. Yes, the same iOS device you have in your pocket. UK based Big Head Games have teamed up with Korean outfit Floorpali to create a special plastic film that can be laid on top of compatible iOS devices, creating a glasses-free 3D image to rival that of the newly released Nintendo 3Ds. Big Head Games Director Dave Vout even thinks this new technology will outshine the Nintendo handheld.
Speaking with UK games site MCV, here’s what Vout had to say:
“It blows away the Nintendo 3DS for size and resolution, it’s just a huge leap forward. We’ve worked very hard with Floorpali to develop something that is cheap but durable enough, this is going to change gaming on the iPad.”
