displaypad Were giving away 10 copies of DisplayPad. Turn your iPad into a second monitor for free.A lot of you have noticed the super sexy ad in our sidebar for DisplayPad. We know you’ve seen it because it’s by far the best performing advertisement on our website to date.

So, we figured it’d be appropriate to get some copies of Clean Cut Code’s DisplayPad into your hands. DisplayPad lets you turn your iPad into a secondary monitor. You can connect your iPad to your Mac, and then drag windows from your Mac directly to your iPad. You can then use your iPad just like you would a second monitor.

macbookpro teardown iFixit murders the new MacBook Pro, then resuscitates itBack in the day, during the time of mod chips and Sony PlayStations, I got a bit of a buzz from taking apart electronics and messing with them. Sometimes the machines came back to life, but other times I’d kill them. I quickly learned that I was not an electrical engineer to any degree, nor was I talented enough to make mods to my devices on my own. I kept trying though, and eventually I got it right. iFixit takes the guess work out of tear-downs, and they’re already providing a nice how-to guide for the new 15-inch MacBook Pro.

pennies Why Apple has to charge you for FaceTime In all of the excitement of today’s announcements it was discovered that FaceTime was out of beta and officially in the Mac App Store for just $0.99. The interwebs lit up in an uproar over Apple gouging its customers for something that should be free. Apple probably agrees with you all and would love to just give it to you, but unfortunately they can’t by law.

thunderbolt macbook pro Apple may have a giant head start until 2012 with Thunderbolt

Apple’s announcement of Thunderbolt today during their press conference is no longer major news, but Apple may have a year-long head start with the new technology according to Intel.

While Intel admitted that Apple doesn’t have exclusivity with the technology currently, they did say that they didn’t expect other manufacturers to jump on the technology until 2012. According to Electronista, other developers won’t “get the kit for Thunderbolt until the spring, giving Apple at least several months’ lead time.”

gameloft Gameloft flips its lid and puts 33 games on sale for a dollar

There are huge sales, then there are HUGE sales, and today Gameloft has put thirty of their iPhone and iPad games on sale for a dollar. I think that qualifies as a HUGE sale, don’t you? The sale might have something to do with getting over the winter blues, but I’m not going to complain at all. I could use some new games.

We’re adding six of our favourites to this post, but if you want the entire list, you can get it on their websites.

Thanks for the sale Gameloft.

2674492728 762a85c9a8 Apple pulling MobileMe retail boxes from storesApple’s migration to the Mac App Store is well underway today. Earlier, OS X Lion was pushed to developers through the Mac App Store, FaceTime is now available in the Mac App Store, and pretty soon MobileMe will only be available through the Mac App Store.

Resellers were notified today that retail versions of MobileMe will no longer be sold in store, and that resellers are able to continue selling their current supply until they run out. This news is both welcome and a little concerning at the same time. On the surface, digital application distribution is by far the most convenient way to get applications these days. I can’t remember the last time I purchased software in store. Wait, I lied. I bought the latest iLife when it shipped, but that was only because it was only available in store at the time.
