Misc. News

Word is out: Apple’s takeover of the old HP campus is complete. HP, all your base are belong to Apple. Apple Inc. has allegedly ponied up 300 millionish dollars to acquire the 98-acre lot. The old HP campus is double the size of Apple’s current lot.

The Cupertino mayor seems pretty pumped about the purchase: “we’re very proud to have Apple’s headquarters in our city. It’s not just a company. It’s the company.”

Neither Apple, nor HP have commented on the price that they settled on for the purchase, but experts have pegged its value around the $300 million mark. No one knows what Apple plans on doing with the new space they’ve acquired, but they now own quite a large chunk of land in Cupertino.

What do you think? What would you put in the space?

Shouldn't it be HP , all your base are belong to Apple? :p

I agree with Chris. The campus is nice, with a nice open green space in the center, and a great cafeteria, but it is a little dated. The Company Store really feels dated, as (at least when I was there in 2007) it looked like an older Apple Store, with the older-style furniture and fixtures.

If you've ever been on Apple's campus. Or even just in the lobby or company store. It doesn't have that Apple feel. The buildings look straight-out of the 80's of course.

I wouldn't be surprised if they plan to build new corporate offices that are on par with the flagship Apple stores around the world. Glass staircases all over the place!

That's an interesting idea. Sadly, I've never been to their HQ. For some reason I'm having visions of the Emerald City in the middle of Cupertino. lol.
