iPod Touch Update

| Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The entire iPod lineup was updated today, with the exception of the iPod Classic.  There was no mention of the classic, so we’re suspecting that the device may have been cancelled (we’ll see when the store goes live again). The iPod Touch got some particular attention.

What you can look forward to with the new iPod Touch is:

Those are all great, but probably the best announcement is the front-facing camera that now gives you the ability to use FaceTime. And yes, you can FaceTime with both iPod Touch and iPhone 4 users, making this the first step in a universal application across Apple’s product line.

Along with the FaceTime support, Apple’s also included  HD video recording like the iPhone 4.  You’ll also get the iMovie mobile app for on-device video editing.

Finally, the iPod Touch has been slimmed down even more, but the overall aesthetics are similar to the current model – all the goodness is built in with the new firmware updates.

There will be three models: 8, 32 and 64GB with pricing ranging from $229, $299 and $399 respectively. You can pre-order the device today – and they will be shipping starting next week.
