12 Core Mac Pros now Available

Are you in need of the Ferrari of computers? Looking for something with some real pep? Well, Apple just released the brand new Mac Pro with two 2.66 Ghz six-core Westmere Xenon processors. If you want even more juice, you can bump it up to two 2.93 Ghz six-core Westmere Xenon processors for an additional $1,200 USD.

The stock model is just under $5,000 USD, but once you add all of the hardware and software fixin’s, it can go above $22,000 USD. This really is a beast, and I wouldn’t mind getting to play with one for a couple of hours.

Are you going to get this monster-Mac? I want to know why. Maybe you’re a professional in the movie industry looking for a rendering box. Heck, you might be a pirate looking for a way to transcode your stolen property fast. Let us know why you need so much power in the comment section of this post.

Thats a good tactic because most buyers will think that its a preorder but then it takes them to the 24" ACD where they might decide on getting the smaller version.

Everyone I know buys third-party / after-market RAM when suiting up their new box as Apple's rates are long known to be on the extreme end of premium. Can save over a grand without trying.

I have a 2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Xeon which was the top in its day not that many days ago it seems. I outfit mine with RAID zero across all 4 bays. I use mine for some media production (all kinds) but mostly for data work and development. When I can use the speed, its wonderful to have and can save a lot of time, paying for itself (and I think I have a weak justification). I drive two 30-inch Cinemas too. Yes, its (was) my dream box. Worked hard for it and enjoy it to pieces. Lots of fun!

16GB (8x2GB) [Add $750.00]
32GB (8x4GB) [Add $3,550.00]

hhmmm...
How is this acceptable?

Eight 4 GB sticks of that type of RAM is really expensive?
