For under fifteen hundred bucks you can put yourself together an excellent DJ’n rig that includes two iPads, a Numark Mixer, and a couple of apps.
With the apps replacing physical loop machines you’re going to be saving some serious coin. Take for instance the iElectribe app that’s been released by Korg. The original hardware based sampler station comes in at 499.00 on eBay, but the iPad application runs you $9.99 (for a limited time). Before you get all hissy, you should know the the iElectribe app is the exact same loops and beats you’d get with the original Korg Electribe (according to the video below).
You know how I’ve been saying that Apps are going to make or break the iPad? This is a prime example of that. The iPad lets you turn the device into whatever you want it to be, which in this case is a DJ station.
Name me one other device that lets you do that? But, I digress!
