Early adopters are early to rise. Today is D-Day for iPad pre-orders. The time we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. A few weeks back the rumors were rampant that the iPad was going on pre-order on February 25th. Well, the 25th came and went with no word on the pre-order. Then we heard rumors that the iPad was going to be delayed.
First, it was due to short supply of a certain hardware component. Then it was due to working out the bugs on the OS. At last we found out a week ago that the iPad was going on pre-order on March 12th, but we weren’t given a time that we can place our pre-orders at store.apple.com. This question has finally been answered.
TUAW’s Michael Rose is reporting that they have contacted Apple’s PR to ask this very question. Apple’s PR responded with the following quote:
“Customers can pre-order online at apple.com at 5:30am Pacific time on Friday, March 12.”
For our east coast audience you can pre-order your iPad at 8:30am. You’ll be able to pre-order the Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi/3G models, as well as all three storage capacities. Unfortunately, only the Wi-Fi version will be out on April 3rd. The Wi-Fi/3G model will be out at the end of April/beginning of May.
Now that the wait is over, which iPad are you going to order? I’m holding off on the Wi-Fi/3G model. As I have stated before, I’m not to hot on the idea that AT&T is double dipping on it’s iPhone customers. With that said, I’m going to get the Wi-Fi version, and I’m leaning towards the 64GB version. With our cruise to Vancouver coming up, I’m going to want the larger storage to off-load our photos onto the iPad.
Ok early adopters, it’s time to get your game faces on. So go online and get ready to pre-order the long awaited iPad. Just to recap the times, and availability, the iPad will go on pre-order at 5:30am PST, and at 8:30am EST. You will be able to pre-order both the Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi/3G models, as well as all three storage capacities. And, finally the Wi-Fi model will be available on April 3rd with the Wi-Fi/3G model to follow at the end of April/beginning of May. Happy pre-ordering everyone.
