Do knot forget. Ford Germany takes a potshot at Apple’s Ear Bud.

Here’s a fun advert from Ford Germany, featuring Apple’s distinctive (although terrible) white earbuds, advertising the fact that Bluetooth® is now built into a whole bunch of their new models as they roll out of the factories.

From Ford’s website:

The Bluetooth® with Voice Control system allows you to operate your mobile, satellite navigation system, climate control and audio system using voice-activated commands – all wirelessly. It’s not only safer, leaving you free to keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel, but it also means you’re keeping within the law while still staying in touch.

The iPhone and iPod are amongst the devices which can use this feature, and they have the most recognizable headphones I guess, this could be why Apple’s were chosen. Either way, I think it’s a fun and clever advert.

I don’t think the iPod earphones are “terrible”. I think you’re over-exaggerating just like some others are about the quality of the iPod earphone. If you really want to experience terrible, try going to your dollar store and picking out those cheap earphones. Those are terrible.

iPod earphones are okay. They are not superb but they are fine and most people would find them quite useable.

Is one reason to call them terrible because of an automatic (and illogical) reaction to growing trends? That is, just because many people like them, a few others want to react against it because it is popular. Is that it? Kind of a childish attitude if so.

No, I called them terrible in the article because of my dealings with them.
I’m from London and i have to ride the Underground everyday like thousands of others. With the iPods massive popularity, most people who choose to listen to music use one, and use the headphones supplied, the earbuds i called terrible.
With the noise from the Underground, and the noise from other riders around them the only way for them to hear there music properly using these earbuds is to turn the volume up. Which just leaks out, for all other to hear, and back into the ears of those already wearing the headphones, making them turn up even louder. Big circle.

Yes, they probably are better than ones I could pick up from a pound store over here, but I opted to buy some Sennheiser ones, and I can keep the volume down so it doesnt affect my hearing, doesnt annoy others around me, and keeps other peoples music out.

I know if Apple were to improve the quality of the headphones, the overall cost of buying an iPod would go up, so they’ve made them the best the can for now, and given an option to buy some better Apple branded ones if you want and care about your music that much.

Each to their own, I thank you for your comment and opinions, but this is just why I think the earbuds suck.

        Hi Simon,

Well, the reason you give actually doesn’t make the iPod headphones terrible. You know, they are of an open-air design which actually does mean sound IS supposed to leak out. There are earphones like that. Most are. That IS the design of the earphone. The iPod earphones are not terrible because sound leaks out. Most earphones do that if they are of an open air design.

What you are looking for them is something else. You might want to try an in-ear canal phone which Apple does actually make and so do many other companies. And, you can also try over-the-ear headphones that basically go over your year and clamps out noise. However, there are over-the-ear heaphones that do leak out sound (depending on the design) but since your ears are being enclosed, you won’t get to hear much noise any way.

Yeah, this isn’t a “to each their own” kind of comment :) It’s basically I think your criteria for “terrible” is mistaken because you’re wanting a different experience from an earphone whose design technology IS NOT intended for what you want it to be. That’s why I bought in in-ear earphone (or also called canalphone) as replacements.

Weight Loss Applications for the iPhone is very much important when it comes to monitoring. Very impressive and need based features.

No no no no. Ipod headphones are terrible. There are worse, but do an A/B test with any headphone set above £20 and you’ll immediatly notice the lack of clarity, boomy low mid nature of these utter pieces of shit. They are pap, total gash. Minging, skanky shit buckets of wank.
